School Meals
Are meals provided?
Yes. There are three possible options for your child at lunchtime:
1. Your child may have a cooked meal provided by a local school’s kitchen. This is FREE if your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2. For our nursery children and older children, it costs £2.80 per day (price may change). We provide all the children with a menu and there is a copy on the school website so that your child can decide which meals they would like to have. The daily choice includes a packed lunch as an alternative to the cooked meals for KS2 children.
2. Your child may bring a packed lunch from home. This must include a healthy option for their lunch boxes i.e. cereal bars, yoghurts and fruit. Docking Church of England Primary Academy and Nursery aims to promote healthy eating at our school. We do not encourage children to have any sweets or chocolate. A biscuit covered in chocolate is allowed.
3. Your child may go home.
Parents who receive certain benefits are entitled to free meals for their children. This is a right and there is no stigma attached to it. An application form is available from the office or you can apply online at https://www.norfolk.gov.uk/38166

May my child have a drink and a snack at playtime?
We aim to promote healthy eating and therefore restrict what the children may eat and drink at playtime. Children should only bring fruit/fruit-based snacks into school. All Reception children receive free milk while under 5 and all Reception and KS1 children receive a free piece of fruit each day. If you wish, you may provide an additional piece of fruit. No sweets or chocolate.
Water Bottles
All children are encouraged to attend school with a water bottle. This should come into school each day in order for children to drink throughout the day. They are free to access this at any time. Bottles must only contain plain water. Any other drinks, e.g. juice and squash will not be permitted in the classrooms.
