St Mary Federation

Welcome to St Mary Federation

Welcome to the St Mary Federation, made up of Brancaster C of E Primary Academy and Docking C of E Primary Academy and Nursery, two wonderful academies, each with distinct personalities, but all with the same vision, working together to provide the best education possible for our children.

We all love to see our children succeed, and our results prove that our children make strong progress from their starting points, but at the St Mary Federation we also believe in enriching our children and developing them into leaders of the future through an exciting curriculum, and extra-curricular opportunities.

We are highly inclusive and like to make sure that everyone can succeed in a place where they feel safe, happy and well. All of our children have their own talents and we aim to develop these to the best of their ability – we believe that
many people, one body, many gifts, working together can achieve anything.

Children have a clear voice at our academies, especially through our school councils and they are encouraged to help us make decisions about our academies. We like to feel that we work as one big team alongside parents, Governors, volunteers and the local communities and that everyone contributes to what makes us special.
We would love to invite you to visit and look round any or all of our academies. Please contact us to arrange this. You will always be welcome
Our Federation's vision, values and ethos

Many people, one body,
many gifts, working together
Developing our children as leaders of the future, we take inspiration from the stories of Jesus and other historical and contemporary figures, aiming to be:

  • Courageous: standing up for what we believe in, embracing difference and setting high expectations.
  • Curious: Asking questions, solving problems and hungry to learn.
  • Confident: Having a growth mind-set, being good communicators and aiming for excellence.
  • Collaborative: Keen to tap into others’ expertise and enthusiasm, being team players and valuing and supporting everyone within our community and the wider world.
  • Compassionate: Respectful, caring, having empathy.

We aim for strong leadership from staff, governors and pupils. We strive to become even better teachers and learners, ever more considerate and engaged pupils and to deliver an ambitious curriculum so that exceeding expectations becomes the norm.

To support this aim we take strength and direction from 1 Corinthians 12
12 The body of Christ has many different parts, just as any other body does. ... 25 He did this to make all parts of the body work together smoothly, with each other.

Our values of Courage, Curiosity, Confidence, Collaboration and Compassion underpin all we say and do, so that we can lay a solid foundation from where our children can be bold and confident, having the strength to overcome challenges and to build for themselves successful and fulfilling lives – just as Jesus intended.

The St Mary Federation is made up of two village primary academies set in a beautiful corner of northwest Norfolk. We officially became a federation on 1 May 2015 but we have been working together for some time now. We're passionate about continuing to offer outstanding education in our villages. The schools have all been providing education for over 150 years!

The villages are either on the coast or within 5 minutes drive from it and they are approximately 30 minutes from King's Lynn.  . Our academies officially feed into Smithdon High School in Hunstanton, though children from Brancaster also choose to go to Alderman Peel High School in Wells-next-the-Sea.  The Smithdon cluster is very active and strongly supportive of its academies.
