St Mary Federation

Welcome

Welcome to the St Mary Federation, made up of Brancaster C of E VA Primary School, Docking C of E primary School and Nursery, and Sedgeford Primary School, three wonderful schools, each with their own distinct personalities, but all with the same vision, working together to provide the best education possible for our children.

We all love to see our children succeed, and our results prove that our children make strong progress from their starting points but at the St Mary Federation we also believe in enriching our children and developing them into well-rounded citizens through an exciting curriculum, and extra-curricular opportunities.

We are highly inclusive and like to make sure that everyone can succeed in a place where they feel safe, happy and well. All of our children have their own talents and we aim to develop these to the best of their ability – we believe that anything is possible if you 'aspire and grow'.

Children have a clear voice at our school, especially through our school councils and they are encouraged to help us make decisions about our schools. We like to feel that we work as one big team alongside parents, Governors, volunteers and the local communities and that everyone contributes to what makes us special.

We would love to invite you to visit and look round any or all of our schools. Please contact us to arrange this. You will always be welcome.

The St Mary Federation is made up of three village primary schools set in a beautiful corner of northwest Norfolk. We officially became a federation on 1 May 2015 but we have been working together for some time now. We're passionate about continuing to offer outstanding education in our villages. The schools have all been providing education for over 150 years!

The villages are either on the coast or within 10 minutes drive from it and they are approximately 30 minutes from King's Lynn.  You can drive between the furthest apart schools, Brancaster and Sedgeford, in 20 minutes and they are all within an eight mile distance from Hunstanton, which is the nearest small town. Our schools officially feed into Smithdon High School in Hunstanton though children from Brancaster School also choose to go to Alderman Peel High School in Wells-next-the-Sea.  The Smithdon cluster is very active and strongly supportive of its schools.

Our vision, values and ethos

The St Mary Federation values every child as an individual.

Together, as a school community:

  • We will develop an ethos that is deeply rooted in the Christian faith and that reflects our shared British values.
  • We will encourage our children to grow into well-rounded citizens who live out these values in their lives on a daily basis and who aspire to make a positive contribution to the wider community.
  •  We are committed to developing three thriving schools that will engage and inspire the hearts and minds of children, parents, staff and all local stakeholders in our villages.
  •  We will, in each school, provide a safe, challenging and relevant learning environment that inspires children to achieve their full potential as enthusiastic, inquisitive, confident and resilient human beings.
  •  We want our children to succeed in life by helping them learn to be independent and by encouraging them to do their best to achieve their full potential.

We want our children to “Aspire and Grow”
